I Can Make That (Christmas Edition)

You ever see something you want to buy and just as you go to click the "Add to Cart" button you see the dreaded "Out of Stock" notice instead?

That's exactly what happened with these Santa Belt Ball Ornaments from Hobby Lobby. Then I remembered, "I can make that."

I already had plain red ball ornaments in my Christmas decorating stash and I remembered that I had a buckle die from Stampin' Up! All Dressed Up dies. So I purchased some black velvet ribbon because in my imagination that's what Santa's belt looks like.

I completed these ornaments before the oven could preheat for cookie baking.

A Bold Hello

Another bold print today. The beauty of double-sided paper is that if the paper is a little too bold for your tastes, you can flip it over and have just a peek of the bold side. You'll see that I flipped the paper below because I couldn't decide which side I liked better. The original version with details on how to create the fun fold can be found here.

A Bold Smile

Sometimes when I case a card, I copy it exactly. Sometimes I change the colors a bit or just the paper. For these cards, I only changed the sentiment. This card is made with a paper that is so bold, less is more.

Original card was made by Julie of The Paper Pixie and can be found here.

Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Flower Girl (Part 1)

Confession, when I originally cut into this paper, I loved it so much that I ordered a second set right away. Now I'm not really a flower girl and I understand you wouldn't believe that from all my recent posts, but it's true. I know nothing about flowers and I'm very particular about the flowers I do like, they can't be too cartoony, they can't be too realistic... and the colors have to be just right (side note: this is my exact feelings on butterflies if you were wondering). I think this flowery paper is just perfect.

I used the Call Me Crafty Al Sheetload of Cards free printable that can be found here. I also flipped the paper over to get slightly different looks with each card, the huge benefit of double-sided paper.

You've been on my mind

Similar to yesterday's card, sometimes you just want to let your family and friends know that you're thinking of them, that "you've been on my mind."

Another case from Julie's instagram. Her original can be found here.

I just miss you

I started making cards because I liked mailing out Christmas cards to my family and friends. For a while, I only made Christmas cards, then moved onto Valentine's Day cards. But the cards I've been making most the last year or so are thinking of you cards and this sentiment, "I just miss you" probably defines 2020/2021. I just miss my family and friends and wish it was safer to see them all #stupidcovid

This is a simple card and such an easy way to make a batch of exact cards in one go. I did case this card from Julie, her original can be found here. I actually follow #stampin on instagram and will screenshot cards that I love. For me, it's the beautiful paper that really makes this simple card shine.

Visiting the Parents

Does anyone else get a little bored when you're visiting the parents? I went over a few weeks ago and decided to bring along a little craft project to work on while I was there. I decided to bring a coloring project since it's easy to color and chat with my parents at the same time. And since I'm still building up my birthday card stash, I thought these candle stickers would be the perfect coloring project.

More Brides

Recently, I needed to make more cards for coworkers who recently got married. I'm not gonna lie, my plan was to recreate the wedding card I made last month for another coworker but my sister scolded me. She told me to stop being lazy and create a different card. I don't often follow my sister's advice but I took it to heart this time.

I didn't really know the coworkers so I couldn't make cards that I felt matched their personalities so I cased this very classic card from Liz. Original card and details can be found here.

Black and White Background

Similar to yesterday's black and white appreciation post. Today's cards show a different way to add color to black and white paper. This time, I colored the background with alcohol markers as opposed to the actual flowers.

This time I cased a card by Libby Fens. You can find that original card here.

Black and White Flowers

I've already shared my love for black and white designer paper. It allows an endless world of possibilities. Leave the paper as is, add a little color, add a lot of color. When I first saw Stampin' Up! True Love DSP, I knew I needed to purchase it. As I began using the paper, I realized I loved it so much that I had to order a second set.

I did case Karen's beautiful card that can be found here. But as you'll see, I couldn't just stop with one card and one color.

Breathtaking Bouquet (Part 2)

This card is very similar to yesterday's so saffron version but I was inspired by Cheryll Miller to add some alcohol markers into the mix. Cheryll's post details multiple techniques for using this stamp set and can be found here.

Breathtaking Bouquet (Part 1)

I purchase craft supplies more than I actually use them so it took me a very long time to use this breathtaking stamp. This is a simple card to make, provided you aren't afraid of a little heat (embossing), but it packs a huge punch. I cased this card from Kylie Bertucci and you can see her original version here. I must admit, I do like my soft saffron version a bit more and must remember to use this subtle color more often.

Hey There Dahlia (Delilah)

Whenever I see the word Dahlia, I'm reminded of the name Delilah. So now I obviously have the Plain White T's song stuck in my head. The opening lyrics of the song are "Hey there, Delilah // What's it like in New York City? // I'm a thousand miles away // But Girl, tonight you look so pretty"

As a New Yorker, I always love when songs reference my city. But as a cardmaker, I appreciate the next line of the song even more, how sometimes I'm far away from my family and friends and just want to send a card saying I'm thinking of you.

The original version of my card was created by my esteemed Stampin' Up! upline Mary Fish. You can find it here

Flowers for Every Season

I know nothing about flowers but there is a flower for every season if you know where to look. Over the years, Stampin' Up! has offered so many different flower inspired papers and I love that soon papers might feel more spring or more fall. I think you'll see what I mean from these 5 cards which all have similar layouts with very little variations but can't you imagine using them for different seasons?

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town or Miracle On 34th Street?

I love Christmas, the movies, the music, the lights. At Christmas time, you can find me under my softest blanket on the sofa with a holiday movie on the tv or sitting on the floor, wrapping presents while singing along to all the music.

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie? I can't pick just one movie. I love the claymation Santa Claus is Coming To Town and Miracle on 34th Street (both the 1994 and 1947 versions). This card was inspired by both movies. The Santa paper I've had in my stash for ages (unforunately there was no brand listed anywhere on the paper). The sentiment is a quote from the 1947 version of Mircale on 34th Street.
