Santa Claus Is Coming To Town or Miracle On 34th Street?

I love Christmas, the movies, the music, the lights. At Christmas time, you can find me under my softest blanket on the sofa with a holiday movie on the tv or sitting on the floor, wrapping presents while singing along to all the music.

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie? I can't pick just one movie. I love the claymation Santa Claus is Coming To Town and Miracle on 34th Street (both the 1994 and 1947 versions). This card was inspired by both movies. The Santa paper I've had in my stash for ages (unforunately there was no brand listed anywhere on the paper). The sentiment is a quote from the 1947 version of Mircale on 34th Street.

Flowers for All Occasions

Freshly cut flowers are good for all occasions, birthdays, hello, thinking of you, etc. It stands to reason that paper flowers are also good for all occasions. Confession, I'm not a big flower fan. I mean, I like receiving them and sometimes I even buy them for myself but I find flower designs in paper, clothing and home decor to sometimes be too busy, too cartoony or too little girl. But I was drawn to this Magnolia Lane Suite as soon as I saw it. It took me a long time to use it but as you'll see, I found Flowers for All Occasions.

Ribbon Of Courage

Another paper pad that I've had in my stash forever and I finally found the inspiration to use it. Jackie demonstrated this card during a Stampin' Up! demonstrator only event and I liked the layout so much that I quickly stetched the details to use later. Who would have know it would take me so long to get to the sketch but luckily, Jackie had the details on her blog here

Hot Cocoa

Who doesn't love hot cocoa? I'm not even a huge chocolate fan but there are so many different hot cocoa recipes, it's easy to find one that's just right for me. There's also something so nostaligic about hot cocoa. Doesn't it remind you of being a kid . . . sitting on the rug on a cold winter's night, watching a christmas movie.

I can't remember when I bought this paper but it's been in my stash for a very long time and I finally was inspired to use it after I saw Call Me Crafty Al's July 2020 Sheet Load of Cards. You can find the free guide with cutting details here.

A Year of Birthdays

When I first saw the Days To Remember Stamp Set, I wanted it . . .  I added it to my shopping list. Then I wondered if I should really get it. Would I only use it to make calendars once a year? Would that be a justifiable expense? Then I saw this picture from the catalog and I had an idea . . . .

Page 18 of 2021 - 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog

. . . a Year of Birthdays. One card for each month. Each month could be slightly themed to the month/season and then I would always have a last minute birthday card. I used only papers from the Pattern Party collection. One side is a pattern with color and the other side is a black and white pattern. I took alcohol markers to those black and white patterns and added a little color, so versatile.

One in A Melon

I found this summery watermelon paper on clearance and just had to buy them. When I unpacked them, I didn't even put them away, I just cut into the paper and decided to craft right there. I used the Call Me Crafty Al Sheetload of Cards free printable that can be found here.

One Sheet Wonder Black and White + Color

By now, you know how much I love a one sheet wonder. But did you know that I love black and white? I find black and white cards to be so classy. And black and white paper has so much versatility. You can leave as is or you can color it. You can add color as the accents. And everything matches with black and white.

I cased this one sheet wonder from Patricia. You can find all the cutting dimensions here.

Countdown to Christmas (Hanukkah and Halloween)

Did you know that Christmas is 123 days away? Hanukkah is 96 days away and Halloween is just 68. That might sound far off but it'll be here before we know it. So while I continue to increase my birthday stash, I decided to use the same layout to make some Hanukkah and Halloween cards as well.

Now I have to admit that the card I cased is far superior to my own. Patricia used that beautiful Fine Art Floral DSP (retired) that just shines in the original design. You can see it here along with all the cutting dimensions.

Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my birthday and as we all know, birthdays during covid times are a bit different, a bit quieter. So I decided to use part of my day to work on increasing my stash of birthday cards. I used a lot of retired products to case a fantastic card by Amy Koenders.

Halloween Came Early...

I started working on some Christmas cards in July and I thought I should get a jump on Halloween cards this month as October would be here before I knew it.

I was actually inspired by these Chirstmas cards and used the download available here to cut my halloween paper. I made two versions of each layout, just switching up the papers.

Double Wonder Cards

I have a confession, I had never heard of Double Wonder Cards until I came across this blogpost by Creative Chelsey. I copied the measurements listed on her blog but used different papers, stamps and supplies. I love when I can make a batch of cards out of pretty paper as it makes any anxiety I might have about cutting into the pretty paper much easier to deal with if I know no piece will go to waste.

Don't know if I've ever mentioned this before but I make at least 2 of ever card I make. I do this in case I give away a card without taking a picture first (happens way too often), because then I have a backup card to photograph. In this case, I decided to use balmy blue for the first card and highland heather for the second card. Which color do you prefer?

Covid Brides

My heart goes out to all the Brides who had weddings originally scheduled for 2020. Many of those weddings were rescheduled, canceled, and rescheduled again during those first nine months of the pandemic. Some of those weddings are finally being happening this summer/fall. The weddings don't necessarily look the same as originally planned but those Brides finally get to celebrate finding the love of their lives with their closest friends and family.

One of my coworkers is getting married next week. I don't know her very well and was having a hard time figuring out what style of card to make. After doing a quick google search, I found her wedding website. No wedding party details, no signs of a color scheme, all those little things that would inspire a more personalized wedding card. Her wedding website was beautiful though, classic with a twist of modernity. So I did some more googling, this time for cards created by other crafters and found this classic with a twist created by Stasia.

Office Birthdays and Return to Work

So I'm back in the office a few days a week, which means we're back to celebrating office birthdays and I needed some quick cards asap (nothing like waiting till the last minute to make a card).

When searching for inspiration online, I came across the perfect card by the Paper Pixie so I decided to case it. She has all the paper measurements at her site (see link below) and I of course, had to create the card in two different color palette. Do you have a favorite?
