Unwritten Resolutions

So we all have those Resolutions that gone unwritten but you want to accomplish them before the year's over.  For me, that's finishing all the card kits I've bought over the years. Those kits that require no imagination because you can just follow it step by step to end up with a finished product, but which end up being very relaxing because you don't have to come up with the ideas.

As I was working on some of those card kits, I came across the innards of some peel-off stickers and decided I just had to use them.  Well my first attempt to transfer those innards onto white paper ended up getting so messed up, I had to trash it.  But my second attempt worked.  Now what to do with that transferred sticker?

I  turned to MojoSketch for layout ideas and ended up being inspired by Mojo497.

Here's my card, I even copied the green banner across the back.

January #simplestamping Challenge

Stampin' Up! January #simplestamping Challenge

  • Theme: Valentine's Day
  • Supplies: stamps, ink and paper
  • Bonus Material/Tool: punch
So I wanted to make a card for this challenge but I didn't want to make a stereotypical valentine's card in pink or red. I have no issue with pink and red cards, just wanted to add an extra challenge for myself.

Here was my first attempt.

Now this card didn't come out as I had imagined, so I tried again. This second card was actually closer to what I had originally envisioned.

Then I realized I had a little bit of DSP left so I decided to challenge myself further to finish up the paper. Here's what I created with the leftovers.

One Sheet Wonder Wednesday

So I love, LOVE One Sheet Wonders.  They encourage me to cut up all that beautiful patterned paper I've been hoarding.  Now you might have heard of #loveitchopit, which I think it just brilliant, but my problem is that left to my own devices, all my cards would have the same exact layout and #loveitchopit would make it too easy for me to keep using that same layout over and over again.  The brilliance of One Sheet Wonders is that once you cut your paper up into all the little pieces, it really encourages you to try different layouts.

Now I've been dreaming of posting One Sheet Wonders on Wednesdays for months but haven't actually done it.  New Year, New Resolution.  I'll start small, aim for one Wednesday a month, doesn't mean that some months I won't post more often than that, but baby steps here.

For this week's One Sheet Wonder, I cased this.  If you search One Sheet Wonder, you'll find so many templates and examples.  I do find that if I don't like the paper used in the examples, I have a hard time seeing past it to the great layouts being used.  As a result, I decided to make two versions.  I love black and white paper but that's not everyone's cup of tea, so I turned the paper over and used the purple on the reverse side as well.  Same layout, just different patterned paper.

Now when I was cutting up my paper, I quickly realized I cut the paper incorrectly... but no big deal.  Who was going to know?!? I almost always start by casing the cards exactly and then by the third card, I usually decide to change the layouts.  You do you.  Copy them exactly or change them a lot, sometimes just having all the pieces cut up on your table inspires you to use them.

Happy Creating, Happy Crafting.

Happy New Year and a Challenge

Happy New Year!!

Do you have any new year's resolutions? I have some and the avid crafter wouldn't be surprised to hear that most are craft related.

Craft Resolutions

  1. Use all owned Stampin' Up! embossing folders at least once (both current and retired).
  2. Use all owned Stampin' Up! dies at least once (both current and retired).
  3. Use all owned Stampin' Up! stamps at least once (both current and retired).
  4. Post for One Sheet Wonder Wednesday once a month (be on the look out for tomorrow's post, I've already started composing it so I have faith I'll actually post it this month).
  5. Use facebook to actually mail out birthday cards to family and friends.
  6. Participate in more Card Challenges.
Now I don't expect to accomplish all of these things in 2019 (I own a lot of stamps and it could take a while to use them all at least once), but I want to make an attempt.

Now on to the Challenge.... the beauty of a good challenge is that it gets you to think outside your usual process.  I find I like to look at the different Challenge blogs and think about them, sometimes it's a few days later when I come up with an idea...and the finished product never comes out as I envisioned.
