Craft so you don't have to find a place to store it

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a video about using a 6" x 8" Album to store the stamp sets from the monthly Paper Pumpkin subscriptions. I remembered I had an old (barely used) album at my mom's house so I resolved to get the album and use it instead of ordering a new one. Packed with the album were some old Project Life cards and Stampin' Up! Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags. My initial idea was to actually used the cards and journaling tags to journal my year. I had started January 1, 2015 but I didn't get past January 10th.

So I brought the Album, cards and journaling tags back to my place. I quickly filled the album with the Paper Pumpkin stamp sets but I had no idea where to store the cards and journaling tags.... and then I had an idea, if I used the cards and journaling tags right away, I wouldn't have to find a place to store them.

I got started using the journaling tags (the project life cards are still sitting on my kitchen counter). I spread the journaling tags on my craft desk and just played with the cards, rearranging them all over a few days, until I had projected layouts for all the cards. Side note: I definitely like the current Memories & More Card Packs more than the old journaling tags because the current cards are double-sided, giving me more options for designs and layouts. 15 cards later....

Paper Pumpkin and More...

Happy Sunday!!

Big week for me, I gave notice at my job so this coming friday is my last day. I start the new job the following monday so I'm getting a little anxious, nervous and excited. Best cure for all these emotions (for me) is crafting.

I decided to work on a Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit that I started ages ago but was just sitting on my table collecting dust. I completed the kit per the instructions but I had all these leftover pieces. I then started sorting the leftovers into toss and store piles, which was harder than it sounded. But why make these tough decisions if I could just make more cards with the leftovers?

I made 11 cards with these leftovers. I even used a retired stamp set I had never used before, getting one step closer to my resolution of using all my stamp sets. I used 2 complete sheets of DSP, making some of these cards a One Sheet Wonder as well. I just love when none of the pretty paper is wasted.

Still more casing

I cased this from the new Stampin' Up catalog that is available to order from on June 3, 2019. I wish I could post a snap of the original inspiration but alas, you have to wait a few more days.

Since this was a fun and easy card, I decided to create it in three different colors.  Which color combo is your favorite?

Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody

Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose, Rich Razzleberry

Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, Night of Navy

Happy (belated) Mother's Day

I would have posted this before Mother's Day but my mom is a papercrafter too, so I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

Now I'm a girly girl, but I'm not a flowery girl. I don't know a thing about flowers except how to kill them so I don't usually purchase flowery items because I know I'll never actually use them. But when I saw the Magnolia Lane Suite from the new 2019 Stampin' Up! catalog, I had to stop myself from buying all of it in one shot. Then because I didn't buy the entire suite, I mixed some other supplies to create mom's card. Here's a sneak peek of a few of the items from that product suite.

Celebrate and CASE

So because I've been so working such long hours lately, on the weekends when I get a chance to craft, I don't have the energy to create something brand new so I've been casing, everything!!

Now I must say, I originally saw the card on Instagram (I follow #stampinup so I can get lots of fun ideas) and didn't look at the designer's blog post till right now. If I had seen it earlier, I might have copied all her measurements exactly.

Make time to craft

So I haven't posted in a while because I started a new job in February and have been too tired to craft much. It was harder than I thought to get back into the groove of waking up early, commuting to work, actually working, then to commute back home and cook dinner. I'm not complaining, just say I felt too tired from the new routine to craft.

Then work got stressful. Suddenly there was too much to do and not enough hours in the day. Then I was really too tried to craft. But last Monday I decided I needed a mental break so I decided to take the following Friday off (the friday of Memorial Day weekend). Most of my bosses were still going to be in the office that day but I was hoping the day would be quieter and I wouldn't get too behind on work.

It was a great day off, I slept in late (meaning my alarm didn't wake me), I did a #mysterystamping challenge on facebook, went to the movies, did some more crafting. I was so relaxed, if only I was independently wealthy so I could do these things every day.

But new resolution, make time to craft. It doesn't have to be every day but often enough. Crafting allows me to relax and not think (read: dwell) about work.

I made quite a few cards this weekend and while I'll post them all over the next few days, here's the one I just finished.  I was inspired by the #mysterystamping challenge I did on Friday because we were encouraged to color in our stamped images. It reminded me how much I like to use my Stampin' Blends. This card is actually CASED from a card on page 131 of the new Stampin' Up! catalog (sorry, can't show you that imagine just yet).
